The data for incarcerated Hoosiers is bleak.
47,000 are currently behind bars statewide. Recidivism is high for those who do not receive support to reenter the community. And those struggling with addiction are 129 times more likely to overdose in the two weeks following release.
And the impacts of Indiana's mass incarceration policies disproportionately affect the Black/African-American community, who are 4.5 times more likely to be incarcerated than their white counterparts according to The Sentencing Project. Despite making up only 10% of the statewide population, they make up 34% of prisoners, and 63% of the PACE clientele.
How can you help?
Thank you for your continued support of this important work and of our Indianapolis neighbors. Rhiannon Edwards Executive Director
