State Auto Insurance Supports Re-Entry Efforts with In-Kind Donations

When Adolph Ware of State Auto Insurance was charged with clearing out their office space in preparation for the company’s move to the north side in Carmel, he immediately thought of Public Advocates in Community re-Entry (PACE). That’s not only because State Auto employees helped PACE with a large service project a handful of years ago, but because Adolph is very engaged with the nonprofit community.

As a Deacon at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church on the city’s near west side, Adolph knows all too well about how important effective re-entry is for the Indianapolis community. “Helping re-entry is a benefit to the entire community,” he says. To help address this need, Adolph contacted staff at PACE and inquired if there would be interest in office supplies and gently used office furniture.

“Our budget is extremely limited so we are always thankful to receive in-kind donations for things that we would normally purchase,” says Kelly Myint, PACE’s Director of Operations. “We serve more than 4,000 clients a year. You can imagine how many office supplies we go through and how much use our furniture gets. We’re so grateful to have received office supplies and furniture that would normally cost hundreds of dollars to allow us to keep spending money on what matters most – our clients.”

State Auto Insurance offers their employees the benefit of paid time to volunteer through their Invest A Day initiative. Last year, the company’s committee called Future Leaders hosted a recognition event to celebrate first responders. They’ve also helped serve food at Wheeler Mission shelters, distributed clothing at Roberts Park downtown, and donated teddy bears and flowers to nursing homes around the holidays.
